Hack the Crisis Austria was a national-level virtual hackathon organised in response to the COVID-19 crisis, with support of the corporate- and public sector. Initiated and steered by AustrianStartups, inspired by a larger Global Community of Hack-the-Crisis organizers around the world.
The Hackathon took place from the 27th to the 29th of March. During the hackathon participants formed teams to virtually and collaboratively build new technology solutions to the Covid-19 crisis. The hackathon consisted of a development sprint, focussing on issues within the community hosted by local organizations in Austria. More than 600 people participated and worked on solving challenges posed by the corona crisis. With the support of over 100 mentors, 52 projects were developed during this weekend.
Hack The Crisis Austria was not just for computer geeks: the movement had successfully brought together hundreds of innovators, scientists, researchers, educators, students, policy experts, and designers, from both the public and private sector, in a democratized attempt to ideate around the Covid-19 crisis
I was the leading responsible of the project, who in close contact with other people from around Europe, worked on the development of an effective and inclusive innovation program.
